Compilation of Services Offered

We take pride in our company in which we strive for quality in all areas of our work. We take the time to make all our customers satisfied.

GARDENING and plant bed maintenance and services: per hr per gardener (estimates on request for gardening, weeding & shrub care tasks.)

Seasonal color beds are used to draw attention to entryways of property, highlight sign areas or enhance views throughout the landscape. Summer annuals are installed in May through September and there are countless types of annual flowers, which are available in dozens of colors. It is our job to recognize the specific site conditions you have and match the proper plants in a unique display. We call this entire process our gardening program; it includes:

•  Pulling and removing existing annual plants.

•  Prune back any plants that encroach the bed.

•  Till and grade soil.

•  Contour soil for proper drainage.

•  Add soil amendments.

•  Arrange a creative floral display with plants.

•  Install 4” size pots of annuals.

•  Apply insecticide if required.

•  Clean-up site thoroughly and remove debris.

•  Initial watering & fertilization to a depth of 4” – 6”.

We guarantee our annual gardening program will provide you with a colorful display to enjoy and admire throughout the season. We ask you to help monitor and water the plants daily during the first 2 weeks.

Weeding: Shrub beds, natural areas with mulch and ground cover areas will be weeded on every visit during the year. We use Round-Up herbicide on any weed that we can safely apply without injury to ornamental plants. We hand pull weeds within the canopy of shrubs or ground covers. We use selective herbicides for persistent perennial weeds and grass control as needed. Your bed areas should remain 95% weed free. There will always be some weeds present in a fertile growing environment. Our intention is to always control weeds with no injury to shrubs, ground covers, or trees.

Shrub Care: It is important to remember that pruning plants is a process, not an event. There is no one-day of the year that all plants are to be pruned. Each species has very specific pruning needs based on flower production and the growing season. There will always be plants that require pruning in the landscape. First priority is pruning for bloom production, second is structure pruning for plant development and third is space management. Space management is most common in mature landscape environments. We must contain plants within the spaces allocated during landscape design. If you have an extensive planting with specialty items, we will inventory the plants and discuss proper pruning. We will fertilize your shrubs one time each year to keep them growing and green. (Bed maintenance services subject to individual estimates.)

Spring Bed Clean Out

We clean out debris in your flower beds, bagging it and hauling it away. Prices vary as does the size of beds. Please phone for estimates.

BASIC SERVICE (prices based on basic city lot 50x100.) (for 5 month contract) Mowing:

Prior to mowing, the turf areas will be policed for trash, tree limbs or obstructions. Turf will be completely and evenly mowed at a height most suitable for the site's specific needs. In areas we cannot reach with a lawnmower, we will string trim the turf to the height of adjacent turf. We at Total Yard Care believe in proper mulching. We realize that in dense growing season that we must bag and haul away clippings, but turf grass research shows that by using proper mowers, it is better to return clippings to the turf for nutritional replenishment. This process is called grass cycling and it's a tremendous help to our environment. We would like to leave this up to our clients as we realize that not everyone likes their turf to be mulched.

TURF GRASS liquid fertilizer: each app included weed control & fertilizer

Fertilization – We hire out our applications to a reputable fertilizer application business in Brandon (Eco Green). They will follow the schedule under the applications section of your contract for your fertilization program. We suggest a minimum of two applications per year . But recommend 3 applications of each

Weed Control - The first season they apply an herbicide to your lawn, you may not have a completely weed free lawn. You will notice a significant decrease in weed competition in your lawn. It will be a combination of the entire landscape management program that will truly improve the look of your turf grass.

Annual General Maintenance Suggested:

AERATION:

Soil that is compacted and thatch are the two biggest problems in having a lush, green lawn. They suffocate the plants by preventing air, water and nutrients from reaching the root zone. This means that your lawn can look worse even with a good lawn care program. Aeration opens up the thatch (dead grass) and relieves compaction. It should be a regular part of your lawn care program.

  SPRING CLEAN-UP (power raking):

This is done as soon as the surface frost is sufficiently out of the ground which usually commences around the 3rd week of April. It consists of power raking or (de thatching) of all turf areas ( does not include city boulevards), first mow & trim, bagging and hauling all debris away. It is important to remember that excessive thatch, like compacted soil, tends to suffocate the grass plants by preventing air, water and nutrients to the root zone. Thatch also provides a medium for insects, disease, fungus or mold. Power raking removes excessive thatch and helps prevent insects and weeds from destroying your lawn. It also cleans up your lawn, prepares it for the summer months, and after a first spring lawn cut, converts your lawn into a groomed showpiece!

Spring clean-up rates only include turf surfaces.

SPRING CLEAN-UP PKG:

This consists of the Spring clean up (power raking as described above) with 3 applications of liquid fertilizer and weed control. We use a liquid fertilizer which maintains uniform growth over a long period of time. And a liquid weed control.
